Uppsala Pride organises a parade every year through the city. The parade gives the citizens of Uppsala, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex characteristics, an opportunity to demonstrate for diversity and acceptance for homosexual, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual, and aromantic people – especially racialized, asylum seekers, undocumented and newly arrived. The parade is also a reminder of the collective force of individuals standing up for what is right.
The pride parade requires no registration. You are welcome to come to the starting location or join on the way!
Do you want to get some help to the starting location or want someone to go with? We will have a spot at the reception on the entrance level of Pride House at Uppsala Konsert och Kongress where you can go and find others to go to the starting location with. If you need a hand for a wheelchair or some extra balance or to be guided this is the place to go to.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the parade as a private person. We do however have a number of criteria for you who want to represent an organisation in the parade:
the organisation must be both feminist and anti-racist
the organisation must also either:
be a non profit organisation
be a straight-out LGBTQI organisation
have undergone LGBTQI training as well as have LGBTQI activity yearly or actively be inclusive towards LGBTQI persons
It is also allowed to go as an LGBTQI educator for Uppsala Municipality or Region Uppsala.
Parties and party-political organisations will not be given permission to walk in the parade as their organisation. There will however be an LGBTQI political debate during Pride House where the parties get the opportunity to inform about their LGBTQI politics.
Everyone that wish to represent an organisation in the parade must notify this to firstname.lastname@example.org. The pride planning group will thereafter approve the submissions that fulfil the criteria above.
